STUNNING GENUINE AUTOMATIC OMEGA SEAMASTER CROSSHAIR CAL.552 FROM 1964
This stunning, beautiful, automatic stainless steel Omega Seamaster Crosshair model has a silver-white dial. The 24-jewelled automatic movement cal.552 was fully serviced on 12th May 2026 and is keeping excellent time. Omega Seamaster was introduced in 1948 as one of three ‘Master’ watches for special missions. The mission here would be underwater. As we all know, the Seamaster heritage helped make it the choice of a certain very special 007 agent on screen. The Seamaster model was, in essence, an evolution from the rugged pilot’s watch produced earlier for the RAF and many other air forces. It was supposed to be capable of withstanding rough use and still remain stylish. Calibre 552 has been used by Omega in watches from 1958 to 1974. Designed by the talented Marc Colomb, it effectively represents a distillation of all the knowledge that had been accumulated by Omega in the area of self-winding movement technology in the post-war period. There were 316,000 pieces of this movement produced. The case measures 34.5mm without the crown and 41mm lug to lug, and it is marked with the Seamaster logo. The caseback has a reference 165.003. The first three digits stand for: 1 – Gent’s watch, 6 – Self-winding centre second, and 5 – Water Resistant. If we look very carefully below the model reference, there is a tiny maker’s mark CB – a coded emblem of Centrale Boîtes SA, the firm that manufactured this case. In common with IWC, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre and its other close competitors, Omega was not a manufacturer of watch cases and instead purchased these from a small network of third-party suppliers that specialised in this field. The expertly refinished silver-white crosshair dial has silver faceted indices as hour markers with the silver-black original Omega ‘Dauphine’ hands and a silver seconds hand. The original crown is signed with the Omega logo. This watch has an acrylic crystal typical of the era. A brand-new black, best-quality leather strap complements the look. The watch will arrive in a new presentation box. We give the future owner a 3-month warranty for peace of mind. Please study the pictures carefully, as these are at great magnification and show all the flaws that second-hand watches always have.
