OMEGA Seamaster 1964 Watch - Amazing Fully Serviced & Warranty Cal.286

This is a beautiful, 62-year-old, fully serviced, amazing Omega Seamaster watch with a unique white dial in very good condition. The full service was done on 18th June 2026, and the watch is keeping excellent time. This watch has the Omega flagship manual wind movement cal.286 inside the stainless steel case. This series of movements, first introduced in 1939 and known collectively as the 30-millimetre series, is highly sought after by collectors of vintage Omega timepieces worldwide, as these are present in nearly all of the company’s early chronometer-rated watches. The beautiful calibre 286 30mm used here was one of the last evolutions of the 30mm series movements, being introduced in 1961, and overall production finished in 1966. This calibre has 17 jewels, and the well-maintained movement looks great. "Omega Swiss” is signed on the bridge together with "17 Jewels" while the calibre number 286 is stamped on the plate. When this watch was manufactured, Omega was arguably the most prestigious watchmaker in the world, with the brand having more prestige in the eyes of the general public than its arch-rival Rolex. In 1962, master regulator Joseph Ory had fine-tuned a series of conventional, standard production Omega wristwatches in a variety of different size classes and literally pulverised the two previously held category records for accuracy at the Geneva Observatory. Omega was officially the manufacturer of the most precise wristwatches on earth. Omega Seamaster was introduced in 1948 as one of three ‘Master’ watches for special missions. The mission here would be underwater. As we all know, Seamaster was eventually also worn by a very special 007 agent. The Seamaster model was, in essence, an evolution from the rugged pilot’s watch produced earlier for the RAF and many other air forces. It was supposed to be capable of withstanding rough use and still remain stylish. When the Seamaster was introduced in 1948, standard watches were highly susceptible to water damage from even a dip in a sink or shower. The Seamaster was created as a line of standard dress-style watches that were “waterproof” (as they called them then) and suitable for swimming and other light water activities. Their water resistance was comparable to a 10 to 30-meter rating today. The watch measures 35mm without the crown and 41.5mm lug to lug. The caseback has a Seamaster logo and references No.135.007-64. The first three digits stand for: 1 - Gent’s watch, 3 – Manual winding, and 5 - Water Resistant. The 64 at the end confirms the case was manufactured in 1964. If we look very carefully, below the model reference, there is the tiny maker’s mark of a coded emblem of Ervin Piquerez SA, also known as EPSA, the firm that manufactured this case. In common with Rolex, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre and its other close competitors, Omega was not a manufacturer of watch cases and instead purchased these from a small network of third-party suppliers that specialised in this field. The glass is an acrylic crystal typical of the era. The original crown is signed with the Omega logo. The expertly refinished white dial has golden faceted reliefs as hour markers with golden original Omega Pencil hands in excellent condition. A brand new dark brown leather strap complements the look. The watch will be delivered in a new wooden presentation box. We give the future owner a 3-month warranty for peace of mind.
