The watch was fully serviced on 17th April 2026 and is in remarkably excellent condition throughout. The Genève model was first launched in 1953 to pay homage to the Canton of Geneva. It became so successful that in 1970, this line of watches represented 60% of Omega’s production. Sadly, it was withdrawn in 1979 and is no longer produced. Calibre 1022 is one of the most appealing to Omega enthusiasts because it still contains a movement entirely manufactured in-house by Omega itself. A bit later in the 1980s, Omega would cease producing its own movements and instead purchase these from third-party sources. This is one of the most distinctive and unique calibres and has been in production for twelve years (1972-1984). Interestingly, this model retailed at £83 in 1977 when it was first shipped to the shops and it looks brand new even today. Omega introduced the movement 1022 in 1972 and designed it to run at the rapid rate of 28800 half beats per hour. The 1000 series of calibres, of which this 1022 is one, are rightly regarded as a classic today by vintage watch enthusiasts. Designed by Kurt Vogt, these were the first calibres equipped with a rapid date corrector allowing the date to be changed without moving the hands and with a stop-seconds system to accurately set the time to the radio signal. Over one million pieces of this family were produced, but only 78,000 of this calibre. The watch measures 36.5mm without the crown and 44mm lug to lug. The caseback has a reference number No.1660169. The first three digits stand for: 1 – Gent’s Watch, 6 – Self-Winding Centre second, and 6 – Water Resistant Calendar. If we look very carefully, above the model reference, there is the tiny maker’s mark of a coded emblem of Louis Lang SA, the firm that manufactured this case. In common with Rolex, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre and its other close competitors, Omega was not a manufacturer of watch cases and instead purchased these from a small network of third-party suppliers that specialised in this field. The original burgundy dial has silver-black faceted reliefs as hour markers with the silver Omega ‘Pencil’ hands. The original crown is signed with the Omega logo. The original Omega acrylic crystal has Ω symbol in the middle. The watch will arrive in a new presentation box. We give the future owner a 3-month warranty for peace of mind. The movement was serviced on 29th April 2026, and a lucky future owner will benefit from a good power reserve. This movement is universally acclaimed to be one of the best self-winding calibres produced in-house by Omega of all time. The 501 calibres entered production in 1955, and this example is from the 1958 production run. This calibre has 20 jewels, and over one million movements of this family have been produced, but only 397,500 of calibre 500 \u0026amp; 501. Omega Seamaster was introduced in 1948 as one of three ‘Master’ watches for special missions. The mission here would be underwater. As we all know, the Seamaster was eventually also worn by a very special 007 agent. The Seamaster model was, in essence, an evolution from the rugged pilot’s watch produced earlier for the RAF and many other air forces. It was supposed to be capable of withstanding rough use and still remain stylish. Designed by the talented Marc Favre, it effectively represents a distillation of all the knowledge that Omega accumulated in the area of self-winding movement technology in the post-war period. “Omega Watch Co.
